George: Do you wanna talk about hotels, or do you wanna win some ball games?

Jeter: We won the World Series.

George: ... in 6 games.

You'll see. YOU'LL SEE. When The Nationals go all the way next year, it's gonna blow all y'alls minds.

Hey now, I may be from the area but I 'aint no Yankees fan, and won't be taking part in the celebration that magically infests the area whenever the Bombers win a Series (and, coincidentally, most of these people could have given a fuck about the Yankees in April, when they were a $200,000,000 joke). The Nationals having a good season may not be too far off --- they're a great offensive team, and if they can plug the holes in their defense (lots of errors, mediocre-to-bad pitching) they're gonna surprise a lot of people.

But first, they might wanna focus on spelling their name right.

Heh.

Also, is that batter talking on a cell phone? Bad form, bad form.

Ryan - Yeah, to be quite honest I'm fairly optimistic about their next season. It's been really aggravating to watch them this year, because they honestly have one of the best offences in baseball but they keep undercutting themselves with pitching and such. They've shown themselves to be capable of great work, which they then follow with a 10 game losing streak. Strasburg should help some, even though there's no way he can live up to expectations, and having Morgan around the entire season can only be a good thing.

Craig, he's probably just calling his mother to make sure she remembered that game 6 was on. Unfortunately, she watched a re-run of The Golden Girls instead.

Krauthammer, I agree that they've got a lot of potential to be really good. When I first watched them at the beginning of the season, I felt there was a huge discrepancy between the Nationals I that I had read about and the Nationals that I actually saw with my eyes. Their biggest problem by far is their run differential (-164 this past season, easily the biggest gap in Major League Baseball), which can be fixed with solid pitching and good defense. Hopefully their new management will give them a boost.

I was really gratified at the end of this past season, when the pundits called the Mets being swept by the Nats "the Mets hitting rock bottom in 2009" (and I can assure you, though far from a shining moment, it was far from 'rock bottom'), only to have the Braves, who went into the series with wild card aspirations, be swept by them also. Suddenly, the Nationals didn't seem so bad.

But when the Nats pick up steam, which I think they will, the NL East is gonna be a really exciting division.

Well I AM from the area and I AM a lielong Yankees fan (often fanatical i n fact) over 55 years, so you won't see me casting any disparagement. I celebrated with the rest of my kin.

Well, Sam, you understand you're the exception as opposed to the rule --- most people celebrating the World Series are nothing but fair weather fans, and just get a kick out of betting on the winning horse. For them, baseball begins and ends in October, and anything less than a WS victory is equal to failure. A fan is a fan in good times and bad which, if you've been a fan for 55 years, you've seen more than enough of both.

Aye Ryan, superbly posed, and quite accurate. I know some others too who claim they always hated the Yankees, who suddenly became fans after they won! Ha!

Ya know... stuff. Yeah, lots and lots of stuff!

But seriously, I know I suck. Hope to be back in the swing of things soon (by which I mean today or tomorrow).

Tomorrow was officially the second. It is now the third. You lied! Liar!

Seriously, put up a post about an experience you had at the movie years ago for the blogathon I took part in. Do that. It'll be easy.

Ya see, Mr. Ferrara, I had planned to write a post yesterday but... uh... my dog ate it. Cursed mutt!

But yes, I'm going to do that blogathon thingy and that may get the ball rolling. Thanks for giving me a kick in the ass, Greg, I needed it.
